L'histoire de l'entreprise Ichendorf commence au début du XXe siècle dans une petite ville près de Cologne, Quadrath-Ichendorf. Là, de nombreux maîtres vitriers utilisaient un mélange de substances, parmi lesquelles la silice, pour donner forme à des objets capables de répondre au goût raffiné de cette époque. Un code stylistique défini par des ornements précieux, qui ont eu le rôle principal indiscutable des collections proposées jusqu'aux années cinquante du siècle dernier, lorsqu'un changement très important s'impose : privilégier la forme épurée et la pureté des matériaux. Les anciennes formes et ornements ont été abolis, dans une recherche sans fin de nouvelles apparences populaires et non plus exclusives. Cela nous amène à la création d’objets au design moderne. En 1990, le centre de style Ichendorf est créé à Milan, point de convergence créatif d'artistes et de designers.

Ichendorf company history began back in the early years of the twentieth century in a small town near Cologne, named Quadrath-Ichendorf. There, many master-glaziers used a mix of substances, among which was silica, to give shape to objects able to meet the refined taste of that period. A stylistic code defined by precious ornaments, which had the undiscussed leading role of the collections proposed up until the fifties of the past century, when a very important change is established: to favor clean shape and purity of material. Old form and adornment were abolished, in an endless search for new, popular and no longer exclusive appearances. That leads us to the creation of modern designed objects. In 1990 Ichendorf style center is established in Milan, creative point of convergence of artists and designers.
