Collection Lampes-Modern Morning

How and why did these very beautiful and very expensive collection lamps, made in Portugal with talent and meticulous, end up in our little Palace?

Those who know us know that we only proceed out of the heart. From behind the Palace, there is no 'concept', the curious who ask us the question in the store are often skeptical, sometimes disappointed. This place is simply an assortment of objects that make us smile (and that we expect, make you smile too).

I had been following Mattina Moderna for 2 years, a mother-daughter company whose feed did me good during the pandemic. For our 5 years, I decided to crack and take lamps for the shop.

They are both for sale and not for sale, in the sense that we are content to have it here and watch them!!

We have so many people who come 'just to watch' children after school, adults who have a not great day, and it's a bit of our mission to put out the clouds for a moment through color and beauty.

The Palais Bulles is not for everyone (too nna, too colorful too 'too much' for a lot of people) but at the same time, it's for everyone: we now have bars at $0.25 and overpriced lamps and we love this idea.

And to conclude, here is their story, in their words:

«WHEN WE FIRST STARTED MM, MY MOTHER AND I WERE FAR FROM IMAGINING THAT WE WOULD ONE DAY BE CREATING LIGHTINGS. IT REALLY BEGAN AS A HOBBY, THRIFTING VINTAGE LAMPS AND OBJECTS IN OUR HOME REGION – THE FRENCH RIVIERA- RECONNECTING WITH IT AND EACH OTHER AFTER THE SUCCESSIVE LOCKDOWNS OF 2020.

THEN, WITH THE AMAZING RESPONSE FROM OUR FOLLOWERS AND AN INCREASING DEMAND FOR UNIQUE FINDS, WE STARTED CREATING CUSTOM LAMPSHADES FROM DEADSTOCK FABRICS WITH A LOCAL ARTISAN TO FIT OUR THRIFTED TREASURES.

ONE THING LEADING TO ANOTHER, WE ENDED UP LAUNCHING OUR VERY OWN LINE OF LIMITED TABLE LAMPS, HANDCRAFTED IN PORTUGAL, IN SPRING 2022.

EVERY STEP FELT ACTUALLY VERY NATURAL, AND WHEN WE THOUGHT ABOUT HOW TO CREATE LAMPS FROM SCRATCH, CERAMICS WERE THE OBVIOUS CHOICE, AS IT WAS ALREADY VERY PRESENT IN THE PIECES WE WERE THRIFTING. CERAMICS HAS THAT TIMELESS AND HUMBLE FEEL, ROOTED IN TRADITION AND A SHARED PAST.

FOR US, THAT'S WHAT SLOW-DESIGN IS ABOUT, CREATE THE RIGHT NUMBER OF PIECES, WITH HEART AND EXTREME CARE, SHARING IT IN A VERY PERSONAL WAY.»
